Stavit Sinai earned her B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) in Jewish Studies and M.A. in Modern European History (Summa Cum Laude) at Tel Aviv University (class of 2011). In 2010 she won the graduate students’ prize after Y. Gatenio for excellent achievements in the field of history. In her master thesis she developed a comparative view on mobilizing motives in 19th century national rhetoric.

Today, as an ELES scholarship holder, she writes her PhD dissertation at Konstanz University on the relation between sociology and national identity. She focuses on Shmuel N. Eisenstadt’s sociology as a case of knowledge construction in an ideological system and takes specific interest in the way Eisenstadt’s understanding of the Israeli society was influenced by Zionist political myths and narratives.
