Lukas Uwira studierte Visuelle Kommunikation/Medien an der Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg (HfbK) und schloss das Studium 2014 mit einer Arbeit über das Verhältnis von Antisemitismus und Antizionismus sowie Frühformen des antizionistischen Antisemitismus in der Weimarer Republik ab. Nach einem Praktikum am Institut für die Geschichte der deutschen Juden (IGdJ) arbeitete er von 2014 bis 2017 am Hamburger Institut für Sozialforschung (HIS) bzw. der Hamburger Stiftung zur Förderung von Wissenschaft und Kultur als wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft in den Projekten von Dr. Wolfgang Kraushaar. Seit 2018 promoviert er zu antisemitischen Perspektiven auf jüdische Staatlichkeit im späten 19. und frühen 20. Jahrhundert (Betreuer: Prof. Dr. Werner Konitzer und Prof. Dr. Samuel Salzborn) an der Kulturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). Seine Arbeit wurde von 2017 bis 2021 mit einem Promotionsstipendium der Hamburger Stiftung zur Förderung von Wissenschaft und Kultur unterstützt. Darüber hinaus ist er im Vorstand des Villigster Forschungsforums zu Nationalsozialismus, Rassismus und Antisemitismus aktiv. Zu seinen Themenschwerpunkten gehören insbesondere die Geschichte und Theorien des Antisemitismus.

Lukas Uwira studied Visual Communication/Media at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg (HfbK) and graduated in 2014 with a thesis on the relationship between antisemitism and antizionism as well as early forms of antizionist antisemitism in the Weimar Republic. After an internship at the Institute for the History of German Jews (IGdJ), he worked from 2014 to 2017 at the Hamburg Institute for Social Research (HIS) and the Hamburg Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Culture as a research assistant in the projects of Dr. Wolfgang Kraushaar. Since 2018, he has been pursuing his Ph.D. with a study on antisemitic perspectives on Jewish statehood in the late 19th and early 20th centuries (supervisors: Prof. Dr. Werner Konitzer and Prof. Dr. Samuel Salzborn) at the Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences of the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). His work was funded by a doctoral fellowship from the Hamburg Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Culture from 2017 to 2021. Also, he is on the board of the Villigst Research Forum on National Socialism, Racism, and Antisemitism. His main research interests include, in particular, the history and theories of antisemitism.
