Podcast: Jascha Nemtsov spielt Hans Heller

Forgotten music by Hans Heller (1898-1969), an outstanding German-Jewish composer who was persecuted by the Nazis.

Hans Heller was born in today's Thuringia and studied with Franz Schreker in Berlin. After he fled to France in 1933, he was interned there in 1940 and had to do forced labor in the "Organization Todt". He escaped his deportation to Auschwitz by fleeing and survived the rest of the war in hiding.
