This conference brings together the latest scholarship on the variety of global Jewish literatures in the Portuguese Language, transnationalism, World Literature and cross- border exchanges in Jewish history and culture from the early modern period to the present. The conference languages are English, Portuguese, Spanish, and German.

We invite all scholars working on Literatures in Portuguese broadly conceived, peninsular, Brazilian and beyond to apply. We are welcoming proposals for individual papers (20 minutes long, with 10 minutes for discussion) as well as proposals for thematical panels with 3 papers per 90-minute session. Alternatively, participants unable to travel to Berlin may propose Zoom sessions, either individually or in the form of a 'thematic table'. Should this be the case, please state this clearly in the proposal. Applications with a proposal (abstract of no more than 500 words) and a short biographical note, should be sent to the conference organizers by January 11, 2023: Antonio.Ladeira@ttu.edu and susanne.zepp@fu-berlin.de

As an integral part of the conference, the international CIERA-research project “Héritages et ruptures de l'Europe dans la construction de la judéité latino-américaine” will be organising a special panel “Literaturas judías en Hispanoamérica” in Spanish.
